I won't miss the monthly themes. In my den I use Fast Tracks and I actually found it difficult to integrate the monthly themes in to my den programs. Sometimes there were things we wanted to do at a den mtg or pack mtg but we couldn't figure how to tie it in to the theme. We use the monthly themes as a rough outline for Pack meetings. I think having a monthly theme is good but I don't like having to be tied to someone elses theme idea. Sometimes they weren't topics that our boys were too in to either. We do a fine job and delivering a quality program without the themes.
Having said that, some were actually fun and I'm sure that we'll be pulling out the old program helps or Baloo's Bugle to help spark an idea in the future, when our creative juices hit a dry spell.
Keep up the go work. The last few shows have been very tight and on point (although a good rant every now & then never hurt anyone). Please do a show that mentions different ideas for Cub Scout service project ideas, or pass along a good resource for them.
Thanks, Jon

A foxy Cornhusker has us think about things that come in twelves, could be used for monthly themes and pointed us towards the core values. Hmmmm…. Maybe them Huskers aren't as dumb as we thought. :)

We started using the monthly themes last year and found them to be very helpful so we're using them again this year. I think we switched up one month because we couldn't come up with anything to do that was related to the theme, don't remember what at this point but I'm sure I will again once I see the final schedule.
