Chris
You talk about running to time, you luck that you are able to keep parents waiting.
One of our biggest problems is that Parents see us as a free babysitting service so come 21:00 and the end of the meeting you are stood there waiting with one or two young people waiting for parents.
One of the reasons our leadership team made the decision to move from Friday night to Thursday night was that we were finding people were putting their YP into scouts and go out for the evening and then turn up late.
Consider yourself lucky that you have parents waiting for their kids.

I apoligise for the double post
You mention the management of Training, in the UK we have and national Adult database so information is passed to National by the LTM (Local Training Manager) or the CTM (County Training Manager) access to this database is restricted by appointment
So if I log in via my SL appointment – I can only see those appointments in the Scout Group
If I log on via my County Appointment – I can see the information about appointments in the county
I am very surprised that the BSA has something similar.

Another excellent show Chris. You read the idea about combining Leader training for Den Leaders. My council already does this. We will give the Cub Leader specific training session and it breaks down like this:
Start with everyone together and do that Introduction (Bobcat) training.
Take a short break (5 minutes)
Everyone back together and we do the How We Have Fun section of the CSLS course.
Take a lunch break (30 minutes)
Split people up into two groups. All den leaders then go through Den Leader specific (covers Tiger, Wolf/Bear and Webelos), and the rest get Cubmaster/Committee/Pack Trainer specific to be covered for all those positions. It works well for our district.
I am very much NOT in favor of moving everything online. I think the This is Scouting program is a joke compared to NLE. NLE gave you lots of solid information – TiS is nearly a promotional video to get people to join Scouts. What information is lost in the transition between NLE to TiS needs to added to the CSLS section 1 and 2.
