Two thoughts on training.
First, specifically with regard to Youth Protection Training, forget about the training reports. It's 30-45 minutes out of two years. Tell all your leaders to get online and take the training now so you won't have to worry about it come rechartering time.
Second, it's called Basic Training. Once you've earned the Trained strip, you know all the basics of how to perform in your position. It does not mean you know EVERYTHING there is to know about that position. Supplemental training, roundtables, unit commissioners and good old fashioned experience will add to that.
Just like the boys, we need to give our volunteer leaders positive and successful experiences early and often. By providing the right amount of training so their first Pack/Den/Troop meetings are successful for both the scouts and them will keep them positive, excited and returning for more training, and passing what they've learned to those that follow.
Overwhelm them with everything all at once, and they'll walk, leaving you scratching your head wondering why we can't get good volunteers.

It looks like BeAScout.org is prepopulated from the charter information. Basically it just has the Chartered Organization as the contact information, and requests for more information point back to the local council.
It's pretty easy to change that through myscouting.org. You can update it with whatever contact information you want, including unit website, email, phone numbers and names of contact info.
At the very least, each unit is represented at the most basic level, so even if you don't change it, at least you'll show up on the map.

I take back what I said about updating BeAScout.org. I just went to myscouting.org to update some information and it wouldn't let me. I'll update you when I figure out where to go.

What's your position? I've heard that since it rolled out it is now restricted to Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and committee chairs (I also got knocked out even though I could update previously)

That's probably it, I'm a committee member. It had let me in about two months ago, but I didn't want to update anything until I know more about, and talked to the pack leaders.

Kind of like Tour Permits on myscouting, only certain people can fill those out as well.

Yeah, I was locked out as well. I contacted our DE and he then contacted national to get me access. Nothing is ever easy.

Interesting, I will have to contact my DE once he gets back as Camp Director and get access for me. The current CC who is a DE updated his account that populated the info for the Pack. I suspect that will change to myself & new CC after re-chartering in Oct.

FWIW, It's cool that you have DEs who know about this. We had a big discussion at our last district committee meeting. Our council is totally mismanaging this program, opting to invite everyone to a training class about it instead of just setting them loose. At least those of us who understand it have tried to do it.
It doesn't help that most of our DEs and DDs don't even know how to use it. Not blaming them, but then my DE calls me to fix our web page on the council site when he forgets to close a tag and the whole page disappears. :)

Ouch, Ken. I feel your pain there. On the flip side, getting ANYTHING onto our council website is a huge political thing that takes pretty nearly an act of Congress. My former DD who resigned over a month ago is still listed on the contact page for council.
I went into my myscouting account yesterday and was able to update the info for all 3 units that I'm CC or COR for – thanks to PTC folks for bringing this to my attention! Looking at my town, I think we're the only units who have done so, every other unit pin is pointing to contact council.

What's even better is when the people with access are the least computer literate among the leaders ;) I feel sorry for our Cubmaster, her computer never seems to work wrong.
