This was also done in the old forums, but I figured there's got to be some updates. What companies (local or national) give discounts or donations to Scouters?

KOA gives discounts to Scouts and their families.
(edited to include the link to this information)
http://www.scoutingnews.org/20…..mpgrounds/
* $5 per Scout/Troop leader rate on camping fees as well as free use of group pavilion facilities.
* 10% discount for all Scout usage of KOA Kabin, Kottage and Lodge accomodation
Each campground may have their own policies, we've noticed some discrepencies but the $5 rate seems universal.

For anyone from the UK there are discounts in
Nationally
Millets = 10%
Some Cotswold Camping Shops = 15%
Locally – Bristol
Marcus Camping supplies = 10%
I have also found that having the Balls to ask will often bring rewards, I have gotten between 10 – 20% discount in a number of shops when buying items for scouting but just saying I am with XYZ troop and I do you offer a discount for scouts or Registered Charities (in the UK all scout groups are Registered Charities)

I should mention that many mom & pop places will offer perks to Scouts & Scouters.
The best way to find out is to ask. Often times, businesses have never considered the possibility of giving discounts, freebies, etc. because they've never been asked. Then again, some businesses get hit pretty hard by multiple non-profit groups, so they are forced to be a bit more stingy. Still, it doesn't hurt to ask.
Locally, we're well cared for by businesses. I'm not sure if that's because we're a small town, close knit community or if people around here just appreciate the Scouting program and what it has to offer.

The A-16 (Adventure-16) stores In Southern California give a discount to Scouts/Scouters with BSA ID. If I recall correctly, it's 10% off. It is my understanding that A-16 was founded by San Diego Eagle Scout. I always try to give them my business, when possible. They are good people and are very involved in the regional outdoors community.
