Cub Scouting friends -
Because of your active involvement in the Cub Scout program, I am writing to ask for your input per a National project. We have been asked to get input from fellow Scouters on some Cub Scout advancement issues that have come to the table.
If you have the time in the coming week, could you please complete the 10-question survey found at this link?
https://spreadsheets1.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHF1X3BaMU44Uml2b0hvT1BESnRMcUE6MA
All responses come into the survey site anonymously.
Please note that none of these items are pending changes — simply issues that Scouters like yourselves have brought to the attention of the National office to be studied. A summary of the results will be included in a BSA task force report.
Thanks for your participation. Your feedback can help set the direction on these issues moving forward.

National has been sending out lots of surveys recently, it seems. Filling this one out now.
Here's to hoping that 1) people answer these thoughtfully and 2) the results are thoroughly analyzed and paid attention to.

Ok – having taken this one, I found the questions asked about the Webelos program disturbing.

OK, I thought it was just me.
This is not any kind of official National questionnaire, and it's nothing that National is looking into.
The questions asked are just so far out there, and the trail that one goes down is very misleading…I would like to see the results on July 23rd….

I filled out the survey but I have to say I was not a fan of where most of those questions seemed to be leading. My responses may have made me look like the crochetly old guy waving a stick around at the whippersnappers.

I agree with that. Many of the Questions were leading, and asking for feedback like that about what to remove/add, I just find that without preparing people a bit more, is asking for nil responses or responses only from particular upset folks.
I do think, it is probably time to open up Scouts some how, even if it is only a part time program, for Kindergartners. I find a lot of young boys who come as tag alongs, or just can't wait to be in scouts, so how can we capture the interest while it is there, and impact those kids earlier is the question.
I don't like some of the ideas hinted at. Forcing more beltloops and pin earning within the context of requirements, or even electives. I think at least Wolf-Webelos are already packed with enough things to do that to cram more might seem a bit daunting. I know Snow has been a major impact on our program the last two years, as it has kept us from meeting on our regular nights.
