Hello~ We're looking for suggestions for software or web-based programs to help track advancement, awards, dues payment, etc. Anyone have a suggestion? Specifically for something that would allow the leaders to input their own awards as well and print out the advancement report or prepare it for uploading to our District.
Thanks!

We have been using Packmaster for several years and just added the web version and really like it. Each DenLeader adds their own data and the reports are great. Tracks scouts, leaders, & parents info.

PackMaster is a great program. Just make sure to get the .Net add on so that you are not passing files around. They've also just introcuced a web version that is interesting.

There are several options out there. But, I will again say Packmaster. We are going on our 2nd year of the latest version. We had the old non-networked version (it was not fully configured for sharing). I added the Pack Web UI this year so those on Macintoshes could update as needed. That's one point I wish the company did, Macintosh.
Outside of that, it's a great application. The software is more rugged than the Website version. There is a website: http://www.soarol.com/ which is also good. It allows a sync from Packmaster to it's website so Parents can view info.
We do not use that website since it costs money. We are using Google for a hosted website. It's FREE!

We use Scoutmanage. We switched over from packmaster because we were tired of passing around the CD and we had so many leaders who had macs or smartphones vs. Windows. The interface has improved a lot over the past 2 years since we switched over but there are still things I wish it was easier to do [like, add a new email user to an existing scout. It's an annoyingly complex process.] It does pretty much everything we needed when we had 50 scouts and is probably overkill now with 18. ;)
Scoutmanage also includes web hosting in their package now.

Our Pack has used ScoutTrack for 4 years now. https://www.scouttrack.com/servlet/ScoutTrack Web interface accessible to all Parents/Leaders for updating completed requirements. Can customize whether parents can review or update.

My pack has been using ScoutManage.com for about 4 years now. We grew past my ability to keep track of everyone's achievements in Excel. What I like about it is that anyone and everyone or just one person can edit or view the information. The price is also very reasonable for our pack. Before buying Packmaster please give it a look.

I finally convinvced the pack committee to start looking at managing the pack records online in some way.
I've looked over the programs mentioned in this thread, and only Packmaster mentions compatability with ScoutNET. This is a primary requirement of whatever program we end up using for me. I don't want to go through the process of getting everyone in the system only to not be able to sync it with ScoutNET.
Can anyone confirm if ScoutNET is or isn't part of the other programs? Otherwise, it's Packmaster for us.

Once the boys & scouters are loaded into ScoutNet, then you download to Packmaster. (This is what we do in our Pack). That gets everyone in at one time. After that, I/We just input the data of the boys into Packmaster as they join. This is faster since you are waiting on Council to UPDATE ScoutNET. That takes forever. I know that there are Units that update ScoutNET as to when Boys get advancment. We go to the Scoutshop, get the documents, fill them out and turn them in there and then give our paperwork to the records chair.
We use our database of our boys against what Council thinks we have. It's SO different at times. Meaning, we are current and they are not.
I have not heard that other program other than Packmaster/Troopmaster is part of ScoutNET. I know the SOAR website can take the Packmaster software and import it to there to use it.

I just want the import to start us off and eliminate the need to enter all the existing Scouts and adults. Of course I'll be doing my own data entry for ongoing maintenance.
The important part is exporting from the software TO ScoutNET for Internet Rechartering and Advancement. That way I know my Scouts' records in ScoutNET will be accurate, or at least have the best shot at it.
If it doesn't do that export to ScoutNET, it's all but useless to me.

Here is the manual…I really hate to say it like this, but read it to see if it's what you want…that is what I did when I made the choice on what to do for advancement.
One thing that I do like is the updates that they do…they are on top of what National is doing and they have really great customer service…to me, I find value in that.
They have been around for years, too…

Oh, I know Packmaster does what I want. I just want to know if they are the only option out there.
I've checked the other options people mentioned on this thread (ScoutManage, SOAR, ScoutTrak) and PackMaster is the only one that specifically mentions ScoutNET compatibility in their information. I was looking to confirm that with those users, or if ScoutNet compatibility is there and just not specifically listed on the website info.

There are only a very small handful of companies that are ScoutNET compliant. I think maybe four were able to get ScoutNET certified when National first allowed the bids back in 1999. At least one of those was Scoutmate which is now defunct.
National needs to remove head from butt and allow some of the other newer companies like ScoutTrack to become ScoutNET compliant.

Thanks everyone.
I'm sure most of the delay has to do with the problems with ScoutNET that have endured basically since it began. More recently, the BSA has hired a new company to totally revamp what is now known as ScoutNET (this is from our council's immediate past president who sits on some Area committees, that were briefed on the state of ScoutNET).
In the meantime, we're stuck with what we have.

Thought I'd check in.
The pack finally decided on Packmaster. It's already been a great decision.
I got the ScoutNET export file from my local council, that saved a lot of time with the initial data import. Then, between the reports generated from the Internet Advancement site and the Training Valitation tool on MyScouting I was able to get advancement and training information into the system.
For the most part, Packmaster now matches what ScoutNET has for our pack, but it is far from "complete." We do feel better that managing this information is now more in our control than the local council. Not that their bad, there's just a lot to do. Anything that we can do data entry for instead of them only helps us all.

FYI: I have been told that ScoutNET is being redesigned and/or replaced. Not sure when the roll-out is, but the actual database iis getting a real overhaul.
