With a transition from Den Leader to Cubmaster, I have been putting together a binder for my replacement. I am filling it with thing that I found useful as a den leader and hopefully it will help him as well. I might put together something similar for the new Tiger Den Leaders that will be starting out after our Join Night if this is well recieved.

In my opinion, the most important thing I put in there was a sheet on training. From YP and Fast Start through CSLS and University of Scouting and Roundtable. These are the things I found the most useful during my time as a den leader.

I also included the Leader Book and the Guide to Safe Scouting, both excellent references that I have used in the last year. There are lots more, I'm just afraid to overwhelm someone with a stack of binders containing every possible thing I can think of.

So what essential (or at least helpful) book/form/list would you include for a new den leader?

A copy of the applicable section of the new Den & Pack Meeting Resource Guide.

A schedule of leader events for the upcoming year (training sessions, University of Scouting, ROUNDTABLE, your pack's leader meetings, etc.).

A calendar of the pack/district/council events for the year to assist in planning den meetings.

Blank copies of forms that they could use (whether official Scouting ones or ones your unit uses.

Two contact sheets. One that has all the contact info for the families in the den (and info on the best method of contact for each – phone, text, email, facebook, tweet, etc.). And one with the contact info for every other leader in the Pack.
