I didn't want to hijack the Urban Legends thread so I figured I'd start a new one.

Just a few minutes ago marked the 40th anniversary of the first man to step foot on the moon.  As posted in the Urban Legends thread, of the twelve human beings in all of recorded history who have walked on a land mass that is not Earth, 11 were Scouts.  Ranging from Cub Scouts all the way to Eagle.

But even beyond just those 12 men, there have been many men and women to venture out of our atmosphere over the years, and many were Scouts.  Of all these trips, I think the one that best demonstrates the qualities instilled by the BSA would be Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and an Eagle Scout.

I think it is unfortunate that in the decades since those Apollo missions the luster of space has kind of worn off a bit.  I say it's time to go back to the moon!  NASA, we'll send some Eagles your way shortly… :)
