Hi there! I've been visiting the UK Cub sites, as I've been trying to figure out the differences and similarities between the 2 programs– beyond the fact that girls can join.
As a somewhat unrelated aside, I must say that I love the word woggle and the fact that the UK Scout Shop has an entire section dedicated to woggles! :)

Probably the best place to see about our Cub programme is here.
As to woggles, a lot of us, me especially, have loads of them! We get them made for special events and special camps.

This was the e-mail I sent CubMaster Chris
Hello Chris
I was recently listening to leaders campfire #70(most excelent podcast I must say) and there were a couple of items that confused and bemused me
See in the UK (you may know this) we have: • Beavers (aged 6-8) • Cubs (aged 8-10.5) • Scouts (aged 10-14.5) yes there is an overlap • Explorers (aged 14-18) • Network (aged 18-25)
A group e.g 43rd Bristol (my group) has to provide a path for a young person to scouts, so if you have a beaver colony you need a cub pack and a scout troop. Explorers onwards are managed by districts.
Now you seem to indicate that the Cubs and the scouts were seperate so cubs seem to shop around for scout groups. Is that correct?
Second question relates to structure in cubs you seem to have tiger weblow etc and a group stay as a unit all the same age and move together is that correct? You also seem to have an adult who looks after a group say tigers (how many kids are in that group?) See we have one pack of say 30 boys and girls aged between 8 and 10.5 broken down into 5 Sixes, there will be a cub leader(Akela) and maybe one or two assistants. A Six is lead by a sixer and supported by a seconder (both cubs but older cubs) a six is made up of a mixture of new boys and older boys thus allowing one to support the other.
Scouts is similar with boys being in Patrols of mix age range.
Guess I am trying to establish how your system works?
Yours in Scouting
Chris (aka Kiff76)
