Our troop has a wooden nickel we've made up to primarily give out to visiting Webelos. I got the idea from my involvement with geocaching, but have since found a few other scouting related nickels.

I'm curious if anyone else out there uses wooden nickels in their units for for special events.

I currently have our troop nickels, my geocaching nickels, and just a couple spares of two other troops available for trades.

Troop 424 – Savage, MD (ours)
Troop 479 – Eden Prairie, MN
Troop 311 – Springfield, OH
DudleyGrunt – my geocaching nickel

Anyone? Also, if you're intersted, I can give you info on where I've had mine made up.

Where are you getting yours made? I have been making my own for our Pack using a wood burner. This can be alittle time consuming so I might look into having some made up.

I get mine made at The Old Time Wooden Nickel Co. (www.wooden-nickel.com). They do a great job and I've never had any problems with them.
