We aren't but I was thinking about doing the same thing with our pack, and setting up a form on our website to sign up for an event, and pay for it right there. We use Google Docs, and you can set up some pretty quick and easy forms, with email notifications and all that jazz…

If I remember this right, the thing to keep in mind with PayPal is that you can receive payments with no fees when someone is using their paypal balance or a bank account balance transfer, but the first time someone tries to use a credit card it will force you to upgrade your account to a premium account (no charge I don't think though when I first set mine up years ago there may have been), and credit card payments cost $0.30 + 2.9% of the total per transaction. So if the campout fee is $10 and someone sends the pack $10 via PayPal using a credit card, PayPal is going to keep $0.59 of the total, so the pack will only come away with $9.41. I know for my unit every penny counts when we're doing a budget for an event, so to lose nearly 6% of your available funds (in this instance) is going to be a problem.

It might be more trouble than it is worth, having to know what the fee is for cash or check payments and a different fee for credit cards via PayPal. To get a paypal payment that works out to $10 even for that activity fee after Paypal gets their cut, you'd have to charge $10.61.

If you have an annual pack fee of $50, to get that amount via PayPal you'd have to charge $51.80 to get that actual $50 fee.

It seems convenient but it might be more trouble than it's worth I think.
