Some of the Veterans in our community are trying to put together a remembrance ceremony for 9/11/2001, and has asked if our scouts (cubs) could come. However, he doesn't seem to have any idea what we might be able to do, and I feel a bit blank for suggestions.
Have any of you guys taken part in 9/11 remembrance ceremonies and what suggestions might you have for such an event?

Scouts could help with greeting people when they arrive, passing out programs (should one exist) and ushering people in to seats (if applicable). They could help with the flag ceremonies (raising the flag and bringing it to half staff). Help with a flag retirement ceremony if one is going to be had. I guess the question is what do the veterans already have in mind or planned?
Even just setting aside an area for the Cub Scouts to be in (in uniform) can help as it gives the boys a good vantage point to observe and participate and also has them out there for the rest of the public to see.

Our Remembrance went well. Our cubs originally were going to hand out programs, but the venue wasn't really conducive for that. Instead, we participated up front. (saluting as the Stars and Stripes were raised and lowered to half mast, while the National Anthem was played). Leading the crowd in the pledge of Allegiance. When over, we cleaned up the trash in the park, and then went to another park where we discussed the ten different events where people were lost on 9/11. (4 Different groups of people lost on the aircraft. Those lost in each building. the First responders lost, the bystanders, the troops lost as a result of conflict that came out of it etc. It really was a good series of events, I'm sad we made it optional now.
