I want to start a list of items that every new cubmaster needs to be successful.
Please list 10 items that every new cubmaster needs, try not to relist items already posted above.
These can be items from camping items, to pack meeting items, to planning items.
The ones I can think of:
1. Leaderbook and program helps
2. Wonderful online websites like this one
3. Uniform

I'm not a CM, but from my experience, what you always need is:
1) Plan B that you have at the tip of tongue and fingers. (B/c you never know when you need it, and if you don't prepare for it, you'll definitely need it.)

1. A good sense of humor
2. A thick skin (to put up with those pesky parents)
3. A willingness to take a pie in the face 'cause it would be fun for the boys
4. The ability to recognize that the pack committee is supposed to run the pack and the Cubmaster doesn't have to do everything
5. Hats, hats and more goofy hats

If not a true Plan B, then the ability to improvise on the fly and make it look like you meant it that way. Be it through pure charisma or a devious creative streak, either will serve a Cubmaster well.
Adding to Arvada's #4 – the ability to delegate and willingness to do so.

My hat collections include umpteen Santa hats, reindeer antlers (with and without flashing lights), a pirate, viking, policeman, fire fighter, park ranger, jester, Uncle Sam, several fish, astronaut, etc. Oops, I forgot the cow head and hamburger hats. And the cowboy hat that goes with the inflatable cowboy costume. And…
