MISS Liberty suggested I post this here. I had inspiration hit me for a possible skit, perfect for Cubs, and it could be done as simply, or as complex as you want. The premise of the skit is simply 'Its a Highway'.

Basically you divide the boys into two groups, and start one group on each side of the stage. The Den Chief/DL waits for the boys to be setup and gives the signal to one side of the stage.

The first boy comes along like he's driving a car, (Car sounds, horn honk whatever), When he reaches to center of the stage he stops, and says, "Hi." The DC/DL says 'Hello' in return and the boys drives to the other end of the stage.

The next boy enters from the other side of the stage and when he reaches the center stops and says, "Hi." and waves. The DC/DL again says 'Hello,' and then turns back to the audience as the boy leaves the stage.

This process repeats until every boy, or every boy but one has gone across the stage once, when the boy says "Hi," the DC/DL says "wait, stop." The boy says, "What?" and throws his hands up in the air like he doesn't know what's wrong..

The DC/DL then asks, "You boys are up to something, what do you think you are doing?"

The boy then says. "What do you think its a 'Highway'," then waves to the crowd, driving off with car noises off the stage.

What do you think? It could be tweaked in a number of ways. Boys on tricycles, scooters, bikes, cardboard Car cut outs. My 8 yr old who just finished bear thought it was hilarious. What do you guys think?

Another skit, and for this one, you have to get your boys to speak loud and slowly enough to be understood, or the punch lines might get missed. I was telling MISS Liberty about this one. It starts with the premise of a Dysfunctional Search Party (and borrows from a classic parody or two that some may recognize)

The skit starts with a call to the search party. about a boy lost in the woods

The team leader acts out the call, plays it up and says, that was _fill_in_leader_title_here. He says he's lost one of his boys/kids in the woods. He says he needs us need to go out and 'comb the forest', so that's what I want you guys to do, we are going to spread out and comb the forest.

So the team nods and goes out, and after spreading out they look at each other (leader gets a call and has to leave the stage for a moment), 'what was it he said?'

"He said to comb the forest." so what do they do, they get out their combs and start combing the grass, fake trees whatever.

Leader comes back and is wondering what on earth are they doing. So he asks… 'What are you doing?"

"What does it look like We're doing? We're coming the forest."

"No no no, I didn't mean that, I just meant spread out and find him."

"Oh!," all the team members are like "oh yeah that makes sense," so they spread out (not too well clustering to one side of the stage and start looking around the area.

A few moments later the boy show sup on one end of the stage.

One of the team says, 'Hey, look, is that him."

'Yeah, it matches the picture."

"I dunno, he doesn't look ugly enough."

'No that's him I know that's, him, what did the Captain/leader' say to do?."

Another boy says 'He said get on top of it.

Then the other boys say "yeah, Let's get on top of it'

so of course they catch and (gently) dog pile the poor kid

the leader comes back on stage, wondering what's going on. shaking his head, pulling them off the ground

"What's wrong with you, i said spread out and find that boy."

"That's him, we found him." the search team says

The leader looks at him and says. "What were you guys doing to him?"

"But you said get on top of it."

"Enough!" the leader says. "I'll take him to the aid station. I just got another call, someone lost a contact, I want you guys to get down to 'insert location here' and We need to locate it in a hurry."

The Team quickly goes running off. Then the leader turns and says. "It's funny, they were in such a hurry, I never got a chance to give them directions." and then walks off the stage.

end skit
