No, I am not making an announcement or anything, but I would like to hear a show with some female hosts…is there any interest out there from some of our female scouters? I have some names, so yes, I am calling you out…

Liberty, Shannon, Emily and Kris come to mind…

You could have some great shows, in my opinion…now for a name…

Love it!  But is our point of view that different from a man's?  I do think that we have different issues when it comes to camping, as women *tend* to be more fearful of "pit toilets."  I've gotten 3 mothers contacting me regarding our upcoming camp-out because they wanted to know how "rough" a pit toilet would be.

I'd love to hear more from Kris and Liberty.

I like the "We are Not Girl Scouts."

… Now I'm off to fight the squirrel that is running lose in my den. (No, I'm not kidding.)  Note to self: leaving the flue open during a heavy rainfall, may cause small animals to seen the shelter of your home.

Yes, I believe that a woman's point of view is very different from a man's when it comes to the scouting program. Not that you are softer, or anything like that, but there is a huge difference in the opinions on how to handle scouts, adults and the dreaded Pit Toilet…

I definitely approach things differently than my male counterpart leaders.  I think I'm a more "girly" version of scouting than most Women Scouters are, though.

We Are Not Girl Scouts, then?  Hmm… it has a ring to it.  Definitely.  Sonia and Kris and Emily and Shannon… you have fun with that!

Just kidding.  Ya'll know I'll be glad to help out.

It was worth a shot…now, Emily, all you need to do is get on Skype…it's free and easy way to record others from around the country and world for that fact…

And no Cougar Patrol…it would have to stay classy

I think it could be a wonderful idea. I like the last two titles to. The best way of doing this might be to get a group of ladies to share the host duties, etc … after all recording a show week after week, or even month after month can get old fast. Also there are other technical challenges like actually recording it, editing it, and getting it online. Also last I heard Chris prefers that a show have at least 10 shows recorded and live before he considers adding it to the PTC family… On the flip side I think comming up with topics, etc for the show would be the easy part, at least to get started. Cant wait to see where this leads!

"THE VIEW IN TAN".. Not sure if I would want to be associated with "The View"..

How about.. "The softer side of Scouting" or "The Scout Mom's Take"..

Anyway.. great idea, fully endorsed by The Scoutmaster Minute.

Have a Great Scouting Day!

PS.  Can I be a guest on the Show?

I'm not sure Shawn, if our views would be all that different from a guy's perspective.  But I'm with Kris, I would think that a View-like show would be a good idea.  That means that we would probably have to play devil's advocate with each other sometimes, no?

I do like my hairdryer and flat iron for my hair, so roughing it at rez camp this past summer was a bit challenging and thank God for a new shower/bath house cuz I did NO "Pit Toilets" for me.  Roughing it with crazy hair was enough for me.  That's why all of my leaders right now, including my ACMs are men!

I do like the name View meets BSA, but I would think that there would be some trademark issues with using the View, but I have a marketing mind, give me a little time to come up with something catchy.  Laugh

What about the “Women of Scouting”?

I just found this on the Geocities website, it's called the Silver Fawn Medal.  This is what it's for:

WOMEN ARE FINALLY RECOGNIZED

The seventies brought a greatly expanded role for women in Cub Scouting. In 1972, 38 den leader coaches were invited to the first Den Leader Coach Conference at the Schiff Scout Reservation in Mendham, N.J. The following year several previously all-male positions at the local council level were opened to women. Henceforth, women could serve in virtually all positions except Cubmaster, Webelos den leader, and the assistant roles of those positions. Three years later, the restriction against women Cubmasters was removed. By this action, Cub Scouting advanced a long way from the early days concerning the role of women in the movement.

So why not tap into that history and do something with the name "The Silver Fawns"?  Not sure that they still award this, so maybe that makes it legal or something.

We could also consider "Leading Women" like in the movies…leading men and leading ladies?
