I like the new design. Very slick.

Have you thought about putting a “Register for PTC Media” link/button on the front page? It was not too easy to find how to register (or in my case, re-register) for the site – but maybe that's just me.

Great job on the re-design. Most excellent!

Good idea! It's on the list…

Just me, but I'm mixed about the math.

They are kinda like beer goggles for furums.  One last chance to redeem yourself.  But if your always serious  kinda annoying.

Down with Internet Exploder!

(Did the thread topic change?)

I like the new site, very “Web 2.0″-ish.  Haven't had a chance to test it yet but did the feature come back from the forums two iterations ago where if you're posted in a thread and someone posts a reply, you get email notification?  Because I've really missed that one feature.

Yes! And I was thinking of you when I saw it. Smile

You can subscribe to a thread's RSS feed, Watch a Topic, or just Subscribe to it regularly (below the last post of any thread on the left hand side). You have to be logged in to see it.

Remember Shawn, the chat room can actually ban people now so watch out, unless you become the mod.

Quick thought, is it possible to have a 'Preview Post' button?

You see that math problem ONCE in your entire time at PTC. Not once per session, day, etc., but once total. It's a small spam blocker. There's no "redeeming" or "beer goggles" thing going on here. I'm not trying to do anything but determine if it is a real human trying to register for the website.

So everyone can deal with either doing a second grade math problem once when they register or we can all deal with viagra and porn ads every day.

I have chosen the math.

I see the math problem  every time I post.  Is it just me, Chrome or me on Chrome? I'll send the  screen shot.

Gary-

I owe you an apology. I did not know that the math problem came up for EVERY POST. As an Admin, I only saw it once on registration.

All-

I have turned off the math problem thing everywhere except on initial registration. I don't want to make it MORE difficult to post in the forums…

It wasn't that big of an issue. If I couldn't figure out 9+7= 16 I shouldn't be posting anyway. It is cool to know that such a feature is out there now.  Although I do know of a software package that is  "reading" context sensitive information  out of documents.  But at $250,000 to start, You can trust I won't be spamming you.

As an accountant, I liked the math problem. I figure if you can't add 7 + 8, then maybe you shouldn't be allowed to publish in the PTC Media forums. But since they've been removed, I guess it's a non-issue. Laugh

One thing I'm not liking about the redesign is the twitter feed. I will probably un-follow the PTC twitter feed because it's a lot of postings to my twitter account. Maybe, like Yahoo Groups, we could consider a daily digest or the like?

Not sure how a daily digest would work for twitter with its 140 character limit.  Almost everything would have to be in code.

AHAW – An Hour A Week

LC – Leader's Campfire

SM – Scoutmaster's Minute

MSPP – Melrose Scouting Productions Podcast

ATSC – Around the Scouting Campfire

NFP – New Forum Post

NSP – New Show Posted

It could like like:

AHAW – NSP, 8 NFP; LC – 4 NFP; ATSC – 1 NSP, 12 NFP, etc…

PT – Pack 19 Middletown
CR/CC – Pack, Troop & Crew 801 Middletown
MC, Packs 321, 418 & 468, Middletown
Hopewell District Cub Roundtable Commissioner
Hopewell 2011 Fall Recruitment Coordinator – Middletown

I probably didn't think this through too much, but I was thinking that the daily digest might be a page on this site. So twitter would daily link to the forum update page at PTC Media.

Just a thought…

Is the Twitter feed hit or miss?  Because I'm looking and it doesn't look to be tweeting every new forum post.

Looking at it, it DOES look suspiciously thin. I'll check into it…

Let's use the math to help level the playing field.  The more you post, the harder the match.  Newbies:  1 + 1; Eagles: sqrt(-1) and it must be expressed as an integer.  That'll give us all a chance to catch up to the more prolific posters. Smile
