Just for fun, I've added "Ranks" to everyone based on the number of posts they put on the forums. Everyone starts as a "PTC Bobcat" and can work through the ranks to "PTC Eagle".

The more you post, the higher your rank. Please don't "game" the system, or I'll have to do something about it.

And, yes, I'm looking for a way to adjust for those of you who have posted at the old forums.

Great idea, Chris. Are you going to count posts from the former PTC site?

I really like that idea.  (And not only because at one time I may have accounted for 20% of the posts or something like that).  :)

It has been now…

BTW, you need to check the website URL in your profile. I think there is a typo.

You mean do some silly like  just  typing some  random response  "Game  the System "  even though it doesn't have anything to  with the topic. How about making random requests like tie a square knot . We would never do that. But i bet you have some people that know their post count better than you do.

Forum ranks the double edged sword of the keyboard.  I have to post to get rank/ I have nothing to really contribute.

HMMMM.

I'll be scoutlike and not post.

Then Again Moderators are like armed guards always waiting to use their weapon. I can let them moderate for once this billion years.

I'll be scoutlike and not post.

Now, really  Chris you did a  fabulous job on the site. I hope you are happy  with this version  for more than a month.

I really missed  AHAW. look forward to a new show soon  and as I am prone to do  on occasion I must break out in song with lryical mischief. "Now that ain't workin', that's the way you do it, You play the guitar on the PTC…"

It's a line of copy on a website. Don't overthink it…

And except the porn that got through on the version 2 website's forums, no one has ever deleted someone's posts. Speaking as the only consistent PTC forum moderator, I have better things to do than moderate 24/7.

AHAW will be back this weekend!

Sorry my inner 3 year old got out today. I know you have way more inportant things to do than moderate, nor were my moderator comments directed at  the moderators of this web site of any other I frequent.  Although I do frequent websites were I wish the moderators were  trigger happy.  Oh, the flame wars of Pirate 4x4.

I think this website is a key example of what happens when Scouts act like Scouts.  We've not had many problems at all here with flame wars, inappropriate posts, etc.  Honestly, one of the big reasons why I don't subscribe to other forums like scouter.com or the various Yahoo! groups is because I deal with enough petty bickering in the real world and don't really need it anywhere else.  PTC Media as a whole, including the forums, is an example of what happens when Scouts get together to be Scouts and put the rest of everything else aside, and for that I think we're all eternally grateful to Chris, Steve, Jerry, et. al (including the gone-but-not-forgotten Mr. Bob).

Hear Hear!

I've noticed that there can be subjects where people disagree on here, but the issue is discussed and it does not get nasty. In the end people agree to disagree, leave it at that and get on and discuss the next show and / or topic.

Long may it continue this way!

Scott hit it on the head…

We are all like one big happy family…albeit, a bit dysfunctional, but a family, and I talk about a lot of you in my real life, and refer to you all as friends and buddies in conversation…

I would imagine that those of us here won't let this forum degrade to name-calling and flaming…

If people get too pushy about the ranks, maybe we can progress through the dance moves — boogie, slide, shuffle, etc.  I'm shure that Buttons would love the be a Shuffle Master.

The question becomes more about what happens (likely a long time off) when most of the dedicated posters hit Eagle.  Do they move through the leadership ranks?  Or would you add in the Venturing and/or Sea Scout ranks?

We'll worry about that if it ever happens. Even the most prolific posters wouldn't hit it for 3-4 years.

Can we get our own special rank badges if we make financial donations to PTC Media?

I'd totally pay for that priviledge.
