Hi all.  It appears that I get to add the title of Crew Advisor to my resume.  My church, for which I am the CR, has had an Explorer Post for over 50 years.  They had been recently chartered through the Learning for Life division, but the program they provided is most definitely the Explorer program of old – what is now the Venturing program, I'm told.

The gentlemen who ran this program continuously since its inception decided that at 85+ years old, they were ready to retire.  So about a month ago they informed council that the Post was shutting down at the end of the school year.  Since they are through the LFL division I didn't know about this as my CR duties stay on the Scouting side of things.

We have decided that we want to continue our Explorer Post but council says that since we officially shut it down we have to restart as a Venturing Crew.  No big deal, we keep the same number, etc.  I have a lunch date today with my DD and DE to sign the paperwork and make it all official.

So does anyone else have any Venturing experience?  I have exactly zip, so this is all new to me.  I'm aware of the program and it appears that the adult involvement is even less so than that of a Boy Scout Troop (which itself is diminished versus a Cub Scout Pack), but that's about it.
