Welcome back to the Scoutmaster Minute… In this show we get a peek around the camp table with Scoutmaster Jerry and the Assistant Scoutmasters plus a couple new Dads talking about Scouting and what they expect.
Of course any good camp discussion would not be compete without a few good stories.
This show is sponsored by Badge Magic.

I wanted you to know that I really enjoyed the show. Even though I am on the Cub Scout side it was cool to hear what you talk about on a camp out. My husband and I really enjoy listening to your show. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Great episode, Jerry! Thanks for bringing your recorder along on your campout.
Now that my role in Scouting is recruiting for our troop, one of the things I always discuss with prospective parents is just how much fun it is for an adult in the troop. Yes, I know it is about the boys and their development, and I don't want to take away from that. But there is side of troop life where you get to go on a campout and hang around with other adults and have a great time (and not just leaders – we welcome any parent that wants to come on a troop campout, as long as there are available spots. And they always have fun). In fact, some of the best times that I've had in Scouting have been cooking a meal or sitting around a campfire with other adults at a troop campout.
Camping with other adults at a troop campout is so much fun, and you can hear that in this podcast. I wish I could have been there!

Jerry,
I liked the show. But as always I wanted you to give us more. I heard you new scout dads say they wanted their sons to learn how to be self reliant. Did they say anything else? Did they note anything about the troops backpacking theme, or the upcoming trip to Jamboree? Did you talk about a new scouts essential gear? or age appropriate camping activities?
I guess I just wish you were not limited to 20 minutes of content.
By the way, you mentioned that you got negative feedback on your "Scout is reverent" show. What issues could anyone possibly have with that? I think it was as balanced a treatment of the subject as I have heard, given the WIDE berth we give to the issue of faith and religion in scouting.
Thanks for all you inspiration.

Another great show Jerry. It is fun listening to your cracker barrel shows. Always a few good stories.
I need to get myself a portable recorder.
