In tonight's show, I talk about social networking, troop-talk, choices and other topicsI touch on social networking, more troop news, my last Cub Scout event, why I started the troop, and a couple of good sites that are in my bookmarks
Another great show Shawn. It's good to hear things are progressing well with the Troop.
I think with the likes of social networking and technology, we tend to forget how things have moved on in the last 10 -15 years or so. I watched Total Recall (made in 1990 & set in 2086) the other night and they had typewriters on desks!
We have to be careful that we're not too reliant on and complacent about technology. Kids of my generation knew if you wanted to 'phone home' when you were out and about, you had to use a public phone box. When I was talking to our Scouts about safety recently, I asked about how they would contact the emergency services when away from home. Their reply was to use their mobile (cell) phones. When asked what they would do if there was no signal or the battery was flat, they had no idea!
So turn your elctronics off for a bit, go out without your mobile and teach your Scouts how to be able to cope without all the electronics!
